Emissions limit (Local Law 97)

The annual cap on a covered New York City building's greenhouse-gas emissions, in metric tons of CO2-equivalent per square foot, set by Portfolio Manager property type for 2024 to 2029 and again, lower, for 2030 to 2034. A mixed-use building's limit is the sum of each use's floor area times its factor.

In plain language: How much the building is allowed to emit before the $268-per-ton penalty starts.

Jurisdiction: New York City only.
